VOLUNTEER IN MYANMAR
Our Volunteer Myanmar program is an incredibly rewarding experience that allows participants to experience another culture, and give back to communities in a fascinating and diverse country.
As a volunteer, you will be immersed in the center of a tea growing village called Namhsan, in the Shan state of Myanmar. You will take part in a number of different activities to benefit the local community.
BEFORE YOU GO
A one-week cultural orientation course is included in our Volunteer Myanmar Program, and is designed to help participants ease into Myanmar culture and society through in-class lectures on culture, politics, geography and language.
It also includes several exciting excursions to famous sites around the country such as, Shwedagon Pagoda, Myanmar National Races Village, and even the opportunity to volunteer at a local orphanage in Yangon.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITES
Volunteers will primarily be teaching English to members of the community in the Shan state of Myanmar, an area home to many tea plantations. But volunteers in Myanmar are encouraged to do more than just teach the English language, we want you to get involved with the local community! You’ll be surprised by just how much you’ll be learning by putting yourself out there, teaching, and finding ways to improve the lives of others. Exciting isn’t it?
In addition to teaching, a volunteer in Myanmar can do much more including:
Learn how to grow tea and the management processes involved with the task.
Assist the Myanmar Tea Growers Association and help with administrative tasks and research.
